Eddington - EDDINGTON - Drew M. Caron, 57, passed away July 19, 2013, surrounded by his family, at a Brewer health care facility. He was born June 5, 1956, in Fort Dix, N.J., to Charles and Shirley (Heskett) Caron.

Drew graduated from Brewer High School and from the University of Maine with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He also received his master's degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University. His past places of employment include Universal Engineering Corp., as well as Stone and Webster, Boston, Sheridan Corp., Fairfield, and the City of Bangor. Drew was a member of Second Congregational Church, Brewer, where he served on many committees and sang in the church choir. He was also a lifetime member of the Eddington Salmon Club. Drew was a proud father who loved going to all of his children's activities. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, skiing, playing his guitar, going "up to camp," listening to music and attending frequent family get-togethers. He was known by his family members as "Santa" for his favorite holiday was Christmas, where he spent much of his time looking for each special present for each special person on his list and wrapping each gift up just right so it would be a complete and total surprise. He was also known for his very creative and comical Christmas cards that he loved to send out to friends and family; each year a new and exciting one. His life was a challenge after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor while in his thirties. He survived, only to be plagued with a number of strokes and seizures in the last years of his life, each taking a toll on his health and well being. But with his strong will and steadfast determination, he fought back each time to the amazement of many doctors and health care workers. Drew always saw the good in each person, and will be especially remembered for his generous heart and kind words to everyone he met. Not to mention his outstanding sense of humor that he never lost, even through his declining health in the last years of his life.

Besides his mother and father, Drew is survived by his wife, Nancy Murray; daughter, Rachel; son, Jacob, all of Eddington; sisters, Debra of New York City, Sandra of Orono, and Tamara Craig and husband, Vern, of Brewer; brother, Peter and wife, Gwen, of Hermon; brothers-in-law, Glenn and wife, Louise, of Holden, and Tom and wife, Lauren, of Newfields, N.H.; and sister-in-law, Serina and husband, Larry, of Fairbanks, Alaska. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by brother, Paul; and his in-laws, David and Rachel Murray. The family thanks Eastern Maine Medical Center, Maine Rehabilitation Center, Kindred Transitional Health Care, as well Eastern Maine and St. Joseph's Home Health Care Services for the exceptional care provided by their staffs.
