2/5/24 Meeting

Reunion Planning Meeting – 2/5/24

We had a lot of fun at our February Class of 1974 reunion planning meeting. So much so that we forgot to take a picture. In attendance: Vickie Burns Deacon, Joe Hayes, Bob Bishop, Becky Amsden, Rhonda Moore Geaghan, Larry Geaghan, Peter Libhart, Brenda Rand Murphy, Sandy Langlais Curtis and Ed Curtis.

The following topics were discussed:

  • To cover the cost of the meal, DJ, decorations and other expenses, the ticket price will be $60 per person.  Other possible ways to raise funds for the Class include possibly having a 50/50 raffle and setting up a donation option on the website.  These funds would allow us to continue the website and have other extras at the Reunion.  Becky will work on the website Donation option.  Details will be provided once the page is ready to “go live”.
  • The committee agreed to use the website to send out invitations. This will save the cost of printing and mailing out paper invitations. Ed Curtis has graciously offered to have his design team create a digital invitation. Classmates will also have the option to pay for their tickets through the website with their credit card or send in a paper check.
  • Becky and Brenda have set up the website to accept credit card payments. The website company does charge us a fee for credit card payments but it was felt that using credit cards will make the payment process more convenient for classmates and increase accountability. Larry has agreed to add his name to the class checking account along with Brenda.
  • As with every meeting we talked about ways to contact missing classmates and get the word out about the website and reunion. Using the Brewer High website, connecting with other classes, our Brewer74.com website, posting about the reunion on personal social media pages and word of mouth about the reunion all were discussed.  Since invites will be sent via email through the site, it is important that people set up profiles.
  • Becky briefly discussed other ways to make the website more interesting to people who don’t plan to attend such as “News & Notes” – send pix of a new grandbaby, a dream vacation, your volunteer activities, etc.  We also discussed setting up surveys, polls, etc.
  • The topics of setting up a block of reserved hotel rooms, class awards or gifts, a 50/50 raffle and teacher invitations were all tabled for a later meeting.

Our next planning meeting has been scheduled for April 15th at 4:30 pm at Geaghan’s Pub.
